German - cuban partnership/ alliance for sustainable development in the environmental sector
One of the institutions attached to the Ministry of Higher Education, in its 75-year history. It is endorsed of Excellence by the National Accreditation Board and deploys all its university work in two central headquarters, located in the municipality of Santiago de Cuba and eight Municipal University Centers (CUM) .
Has been dedicated to sustainable education and research, was founded as the Higher Institute of Forestry. The university has laid its focus on future-oriented industries and key sectors: nature protection, forest management, organic farming, climate change adaptation, sustainable economics, timber construction and sustainable tourism management.

Our Office is running the project "German Environmental Technologies and Local Engineering Expertise for the Central America and Caribbean Region" as part of the Environmental Protection Export Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection.
